Join ISAIAH, Our Revolution MN, NOC, TakeAction Minnesota, UFCW, SEIU, and MNA, among others to express our outrage about the Preemption Senate Floor Vote taking place Thursday (tomorrow!) at 11 am.
Because we believe that all workers have a right to live with dignity and a right to care for themselves and their families, we have been leading the fight against Preemption (Senate File 580). If preemption becomes law, it would steal paid sick days from more than 150,000 workers in Minneapolis and Saint Paul. It would also kill our hopes of raising the minimum wage in Minneapolis or anywhere else in Minnesota.
Just like the House Floor Vote, we have very little notice because the legislators who are moving this bill don’t want an audience when they vote, but we need to show up in large numbers tomorrow to demonstrate massive and passionate opposition to this bill that will strip the power of local democracy and hard-won rights from Twin Cities workers.
Please join us on April 20 at 10:30 am outside of the Senate Chambers at the Capitol as we stand with allies and workers and leaders, expressing our outrage about this bill.
TOMORROW, Thursday, April 20 | 10:30am-1pm
Outside Senate Chambers (3rd Floor), State Capitol Building
75 Rev Dr Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Saint Paul, 55155
Please consider bringing signs about stealing sick days or the need for #LocalControl and Local Democracy. Join the conversation today and tomorrow on Twitter, following and using #LocalControl.
